World Thinking Day - Service Unit Event

If you are new to scouting in Lakeville you may be wondering what is World Thinking Day (WTD) and why would my troop want to participate!

WTD is held in Lakeville on February 20th and is a cultural exhibit from around the world.  Each troop chooses a country to represent and then creates a table display highlighting information about their country, such as climate, history, scouting, sports, etc.  It is up to the troop what they find interesting and what they want to share with other girls.

Girls create swaps to share with other girls and exchange as they "tour the world".  Troops create "passports" for the girls to carry with them on their journey and each table "stamps" their passport with something representing their country.  Girls can also dress in something representative of their country.

In addition troops are encouraged to make a presentation, whether it be a skit, song, poem, story, picture display - or whatever they can think of to the entire group so each girl can become better educated about the countries represented.

It is a great experience for the girls and allows them a small sampling of what other countries are experiencing.  More information and registration forms will be available on the "Events" page soon.

Welcome
